Fitra
Zakat Al Fitr (Atleast $15 Per Person)
PLEASE CONSULT LOCAL IMAM / SCHOLAR FOR MORE INFORMATION.
Who Pays: Every Muslim with more than their basic needs—think food security for a day or two. If you’ve got extra, you pay, regardless of wealth, age, or gender. Heads of households often cover dependents (kids, spouse).
Amount: One sa’a of staple food—about 2.5 to 3 kilograms (5.5–6.6 lbs) per person. Historically, it’s dates, barley, wheat, or raisins; today, it’s often rice, flour, or local equivalents. Modern practice allows cash instead—valued at the cost of that food (e.g., $10–$15 per head in 2025, depending on region).
Timing: Paid during Ramadan, ideally just before Eid prayer. You can give earlier in the month, but not after the prayer—late payment turns it into regular charity, not zakat al-fitr.
