The Day of Ashura Iftar

The Day of Ashura Iftar,

The Day of Ashura is observed on the 10th of Muharram and holds great significance in Islam. It marks the day Allah (SWT) saved Prophet Musa (AS) and the Children of Israel from Pharaoh. In gratitude, Prophet Musa fasted on this day. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) affirmed this practice. He encouraged Muslims to fast on Ashura, saying, “Fasting on the Day of Ashura; I hope that Allah will expiate the sins of the previous year” (Muslim). Fasting on this day is Sunnah and an opportunity for spiritual renewal, gratitude, and reflection. To distinguish it from Jewish tradition, the Prophet also recommended fasting on the day before or after.

Date: Saturday, July 5, 2025. Muharram 10, 1447.

May Allah accept from you and us, Ameen.
